A few years ago we had some terrible storms come through here with strong, howling winds.
Afterwards, while we were driving to our nearest large town, I was amazed at the damage the storms had done. There was debris everywhere. But what really caught my attention was the many trees that that been damaged by those winds.
There were several large trees that had limbs twisted or broken off; some trees were split in two, exposing rottenness or decay inside. Before the storms, you would never have guessed what was inside those tall, majestic trees. On the outside they looked healthy and flourishing. Who would have thought that on the inside they were diseased and dying? It took the storms to reveal it.
People can be like those trees: appearing to be spiritually strong and healthy, able to withstand any of life’s storms. But when those storms come, their lives are strewn with debris and they are broken, showing the decay that was within them.
As the children of our heavenly Father, we must be vigilant to keep our inner man spiritually strong and healthy by feeding on the living Word of our Elohim. Then when the storms of life assail us, we can remain upright even as we lean on His everlasting arms.
We all can have what Scripture calls “besetting sins”, but if when we sin, we repent and ask forgiveness, He is faithful to forgive us of our sins. Plus, you will find that sin showing up in your life less and less as Satan comes realize that you will run immediately to the Father because of it.
Stay strong and you’ll weather the storms!
