The world today is a very dark place. Everyday the news beams of nothing but bad and the bills and taxes can make things even worse. Add crying babies, bickering siblings and three days worth of laundry to the mix and … well … I think you get the picture!
Our jobs as daughters and wives is to create a home of peace and happiness, a shelter from the storm called “life” (although that’s not saying that life in the home doesn’t exist!). There are many ways we can help fill the home with joy!
Why not pick a few flowers, grab a quart sized canning jar, tie a ribbon around the rim, place the flowers inside and put it on your table? It definitely adds a little sunshine, doesn’t it? Why not make breakfast for mom and put it out for everyone on a nicely set table (and yes dear, it would be best if you finished up by doing dishes!). Perhaps your sister got sick – a get-well card and a flower would make her day … and check up on her every once in a while!
Jesus, above all, called us to do what He did. He asked us to be servants and a joyful servant is a key to a happy home. The wife is the husband’s servant and the husband is the wife’s. If we all serve one another, we will create a happy home! There is a catch, however. A servant does not expect anything back and most definitely does not murmur or complain (Philippians 2:14) while doing something for someone else! That would ruin the atmosphere of joy!
Make it your duty, not your chore, to make your home a peaceful place. “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;” (Ecclesiastes 9:10a)
Pray for your family everyday, in every way. Avoid arguments or snippy comments! Encourage Biblical truths everyday to your little siblings! Be an available person to talk to and lastly, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. (1Timothy 4:12)
God bless you as you endeavor to walk in the path of righteousness and beautify your homes with truth and grace!
