The object of this article is to encourage you all to walk out Matthew 5:16 … from a young man’s perspective!
Matthew 5:16 says “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven”. The question is, how do we/you do this? How do we know whether our light is shining?
If you go around acting the same, dressing the same, looking the same, etc. as the people of the world, how will an unbeliever know that you are any different from them? So many times I will go places and see different people and I think to myself; “Unless I knew that person from previous meetings, I would have no clue that they are believers or that they live their life any different than the rest of the world, just by looking at them”.
Now some of you might be saying; “The scripture says that YHVH does not judge a man by his outward appearance”. True … but that does not mean you can run around dressed how ever you want to. In 1 Timothy 2:9, it says for women to “adorn yourself in modest apparel…” Furthermore, the verse that talks about YHVH not looking on the outward appearance is not referring to clothing at all, but rather to physical strength. Even if it were referring to clothing, the verse says very plainly that although YHVH does not look on the outward appearance, other people do. Who are we supposed to be a light to? YHVH, or the people in the world around us? YHVH knows our hearts, but not everyone around us does. They judge us by our outward appearance and if we look just like the rest of the world, people may automatically assume that we live our lives just like the rest of the world!
You might ask; “Well, what does that mean? What is modest apparel?” I am not going to tell you how to dress modestly; that is something that you have to find out for yourself, by asking YHVH for His guidance on what is modest and how He wants you to dress.
I hope that you don’t think I am trying to bash anyone – I am not. I just want to encourage you all to “shine your light” by dressing the way YHVH wants, not what the world or the flesh wants. I don’t want to puff up my sisters or anything, but when they go out in public, anyone that sees them can tell that that they have something that the rest of the world (for the most part) does not not have. They are “shining their light”, which has a lot to do with the fact that they dress modestly.
When a young lady dresses modestly, it not only allows her to have the pleasure of obeying what YHVH wants and shine the light of Yeshua in a dark world, but it also helps young men from straying away. One of the biggest temptations for young men of today is to lust after women that are dressed immodestly. I see it more times than not when I go places. It is so sad to see how people are led astray so easily.
So I ask you young ladies: how many of you want to lead someone astray? I pray that the answer is none of you. If you read this article and say, “This does not apply to me; I already dress modestly”, then HalleluYah … let this be an encouragement to you to never fall away from that, as I see so many that do. If you read this article and say, “I wonder if I am dressing modestly?”, then I encourage you on the behalf of all the young men in this world to seek the will of YHVH and see what His will for you is. He will show you, if you are really willing to hear from Him.
And with that sisters, I close this article by saying, I encourage each and every one of you in your walk with the Father to learn how to “Let your light shine before all men.”
