I know what you’re thinking; the words meek and quiet do NOT belong in the same sentence as teenager. I thought the same thing, but in order to be future meek and quiet women, we must first try to be meek and quiet teenage girls.
In 1 Thessalonians 2:7, it says, “But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children.”
The word “meek” means: gentle, submissive, modest, and humble … therefore in order to be meek, we must be those things. I know it can be difficult to be a submissive, gentle, humble, gracious young lady; I’m not trying to insinuate that it will happen overnight or anything like that! (I definitely know that it won’t!) But when we grow into being mothers or wives, do you think that your husband and children (or the LORD) will be impressed by a touchdown in a game of football, if you aren’t being a submissive woman?
Now the bible doesn’t say that a godly woman should stay out of conversations … that she should never talk to anyone … or she can never play sports, but he wants us to allowmentolead.Howcanweexpectamantoleadafamily, if he can’t even lead a conversation because we won’t let him?
I’m not trying to change the subject or anything, but we have to let men be men. I have absolutely no problem letting a boy talk, not because I’m trying to allow him to lead, but because I don’t really like talking in front of some people. I know that that should not be my reasoning but it is, maybe the Lord knew that if he made me nervous talking in front of some people, it would help someone. 🙂
But, back to the subject – the Lord wants us women to be submitting, humble, and gentle, because we are supposed to be ladies! Now that can be a hard one for sure. Not all of us can be good at sewing, bake a perfect batch of oatmeal cookies, or be as graceful as a swan, but if we pray every day we are submitting to the Lord. What I’m trying to say here is, that being meek and quiet doesn’t mean to never talk or to stay inside all day. If you have a faithful, kind, serving, and god-fearing spirit; you are submitting to the Lord!
Being a woman doesn’t mean frills and lace; it means you should follow God’s will for you! It is a struggle for sure, and we may never be all these things, but isn’t it only fair to a holy Savior who gave up his life for us, to at the least try? It certainly is!
I guess the only thing left for me to say is that you cannot be the woman God wants you to be without guidance. Submissiveness and noble womanhood is difficult, so pray every day that the Lord will bless you with the patience it takes to follow his will for your life. The Lord wants us to act like women and submit to Him and our other authority, and asIsaiditisahardthingtobetryingtoaccomplish, butthe least we can do is try our very best, and leave the rest for the Lord to handle!
May the Lord bless you with spiritual strength!
