As I started studying on a few of the topics that Hannah had suggested, I realized that the ones I was studying all fell into order with each other. Daughters, and dancing, etc…
We will be working off of this verse. Psalms 144:12 “…that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace.”
? Daughter (Strongs # H1323) A primitive root; to build (literally and figuratively): – (begin to) build (-er), obtain children, make, repair, set (up), X surely); a daughter (used in the same wide sense as other terms of relationship, literally and figuratively): – apple [of the eye], branch, company, daughter, X first, X old, + owl, town, village.
? Corner Stone (Strongs # H2106) Apparently from the same root as H2099 (Probably from an unused root meaning to be prominent; properly brightness, that is, (figuratively) the month of flowers; Ziv (corresponding to Iyar or May): – Zif.) (in the sense of prominence); an angle (as projecting), that is, (by implication) a corner column (or anta): – corner (stone).
? Palace: (Strongs # H1004) Palace, pavilion, castle, probably from H1129 abbreviated; a house (in the greatest variation of applications, especially family, etc.): – court, daughter, door, + dungeon, family, + forth of, X great as would contain, hangings. home[born], [winter]house (-hold), inside(-ward), palace, place, + prison, + steward, + tablet, temple, web, + within (-out).
? Polished (Strongs # H1305 & H2481 & H6219 ) A primitive root; to clarify (that is, brighten), examine, select: – make bright, choice, chosen, cleanse (be clean), clearly, polished, (shew self) pure (-ify), purge (out), a trinket (as polished): – jewel, ornament, shining, that is, polished: – bright.
Just like shining stars, right?!
So to put it all together… we, as daughters (houses, corner stones) are to be clean, bright and shining, in this dark world. We are to be as gems to our family and others around us. A lighthouse. Leading the way for our siblings and being the light to them and others that follow our footsteps, leading, and example. YHVH chooses us and He has a plan for us.
Now lets go into modesty…. That goes along with what we are studying.
? Modest (Strongs # G53 & G2887): to be properly clean, that is, (figuratively) innocent, modest, and perfect: – chaste, clean, pure, orderly, that is, decorous: – of good behavior, modest. (Titus 2:9)
? Modesty (Strongs # H6038): condescension, human and subjective (modesty), or divine and objective (clemency): – gentleness, humility, meekness.
Here a few verses on being chaste:
2 Corinthians 11:2 - For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. Titus 2:5 - To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
1 Peter 3:2 - While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
I think the first one is interesting. As we are talking about being pure corner stones in our house and family this verse comes up. We are taken. We are not available to just anyone. We are espoused to ONE man. And the wedding will happen in the Lord’s timing. For some it may be a few years, others, a few months, weeks, days – no one knows, but YHVH. And then eventually it will be to Yeshua.
We are to worship Him in who and what we are. This weeks Torah Portion (Numbers 8:1 – 12:16) was about the Israelites complaining to YHVH and how it made Him MAD. He chose to give them exactly what they wanted and it made them sick. We have to learn to be happy in the stage of life we are in and find the joy in it. (And just so you all know- I am speaking DIRECTLY to myself! I struggle with this BIG TIME.) So our conversation needs to be chaste and pure. Which is also part of staying pure and modest.
? Worship (Strongs # H1245 & H1875, H6087): A primitive root; to search out (by any method; specifically in worship or prayer); by implication to strive after: – ask, beg, beseech, desire, enquire, get, make inquisition, procure, (make) request, require, seek (for), properly to tread or frequent; usually to follow (for pursuit or search); by implication to seek or ask; specifically to worship: – ask, X at all, care for, X diligently, inquire, make inquisition, question, properly to carve, that is, fabricate or fashion; hence (in a bad sense) to worry, pain or anger: – displease, grieve, hurt, make, be sorry, vex, worship, wrest.
This is what we should do to YHVH. He wants us to worship Him. Now we have the definition of Worship. How can we use that? Well, I think the first thing to do is pray.
Ask Him to speak to you as you study. And that He will guide you to where He wants you to read. Then study.
What is a topic that you would like to study? Write that topic/question down on a piece of paper.
Search it out, in the Strongs Concordance, e-sword, etc… write down the verses and things that stand out to you. It may take a while, or it may take one day, depending on the topic, but study it full heartedly. Not just, a few verses and “Well, I did not get the answer I wanted out of those few so I will quit”.After you have studied and feel that you have found the answer, write down the answer. Thank Him for directing you and speaking and then ask Him to show you how to use the answer He has given you. Maybe there might be something in the answer that you need to study out.
I have done this a few times and I have found it to be quite amazing. I wanted to get into making perfumes, tinctures, and scented oils, out of essential oils. So I decided to study about the oils in the scriptures and He led me right to Isaiah 60 and 61. I feel that He actually gave me my calling and purpose in life. It was exactly my personality as well. Look it up if you’d like. The results can be amazing.
Sometimes the answer may not be what you wanted, and you will have to learn to be happy in the answer that He has given. It is very hard. But we as daughters are going to go through tough times, (like we already have!) and we are going to be stretched and grow inHim. IfwewanttobeHis bride, have a relationship with Him, have a husband and a family here on earth, and be a blessing to others (and in return be blessed), we have to search Him out, study Him, and what He has for us, and be stretched.
Just a quick note on dance – when we dance, we are not dancing for the approval of others. We are dancing to worship YHVH. We have to dance like David danced.
I hope that this encourages some of you. I know that as I was studying this, I was encouraged and blessed. I am speaking to myself through all of this. It is funny, that I studied this for SSM and it spoke directly to me!!! May you be blessed as well and may YHVH speak to each of you. Lets pray for each other. And hold each other up in prayer.
