Daughters, what is our purpose? Ecclesiastes 3:I says; “to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” What purpose can we have now in life? We can chose to follow the Lord’s plan in our life and be a servant to our families or, we can selfishly follow after our own desires. Selfless serving is something that in our flesh, is very difficult to obtain. Rather than looking at this as a “waiting” season in our lives, strive to look at it as a blessing and seek to fill the days given with productivity. How we manage our days plays a huge part into that.

Managing our time wisely

Over and over I learn the hard way of how to use the time God has given me wisely. Between helping with the housework and gardening, doing schoolwork, caring for our growing family farm, and more, I often wish for more time in a day! My mom has been such a wonderful example to me by running a schedule for our school days and even through summer. Not only does it help us get more done, it also helps the younger ones stay motivated. I strongly encourage you to make a list of the things you desire to get done if you are struggling to manage your time. I have found it helps to make a list of what I need to do in the morning or other times during the day and post it up somewhere that I look often.

Most importantly, spend time with the Lord and ask him to show you ways to use your time more wisely. It is amazing how much more peaceful you feel when you have taken the time out of your day to spend with him!

Including your siblings

Often it is much easier just to do things on our own. Feeding and watering the animals would be a lot easier without a little cowboy or two along and sewing a dress would be a lot faster without a little sister helping. But, guess what, they love to help! Even my little one year old brother loves to be included. He likes to help in the kitchen, water the garden, feed baby chicks, and even sew. Our younger siblings need our attention and example. It is a struggle sometimes when I have so much that “needs” to get done, to take more time to include them. Think of influencing their lives in a Godly way as part of our purpose as daughters. Not only is it a blessing to our parents, their souls are much more important than any task we have on a daily basis.

Pray, dear sisters, that we can use this time in our lives for purpose. A purpose that glorifies the Lord as we strive to serve him in our homes!
