Satan has an objective. He is aimed at you. He is actively trying to destroy you at all costs. He is not fair. He is a deceiver and he hates you. He is a calculating, cold hearted force with the destruction of Christian families as his goal.

In the book “They Shall Expel Demons” by Derek Prince, he relates how a friend was on an airplane and during the flight he noticed how the lady next to him kept refusing the food offered her. He asked her why and she said “I’m fasting”. His response was “Oh, I’m a Christian and sometimes I pray and fast too.”

“Oh no!” she said, “I’m not a Christian, I’m a satanist.” She then went on to explain that she had two main objectives in her prayer: the breakup of Christian marriages and the downfall of leading Christian ministers. Does that not give you the creeps?! So how do we stop him [Satan]? The answer, or at least one of them, is don’t assist him. In fact, unassist him. (OK, so maybe unassist isn’t in the dictionary.) See if you can find yourself in this list of heartless ways he may be using you.

  • He wants to break down the relationship between you and your parents. Defy him, not your authority.
  • He wants you to harbor un-forgiveness, because that gives him a foothold in breaking away your spiritual armor. Un-forgiveness reeks of self-centeredness! Read the parable in Matt.18:23.
He does not want you to engage in spiritual warfare as it binds and defeats his evil forces. (Matt.16:19) The book of Ephesians is also full of insight on spiritual warfare.
  • He wants you to sow seeds of selfishness, because all other character flaws grow from this root. Defer gratification!
  • He does not want you to be filled with the Holy Spirit because then you will lead a powerful influential life. Walk in the Spirit! Gal. 5:16-26.
  • He does not want you to grow in your walk with Adonai. Memorizing scripture is a part of the picture.
  • He wants you to dwell on things of the flesh. Dwell on the Spirit. Eph. 5:4
  • He wants you to follow the world, be charmed and influenced by it, brought low and cheapened by it. Rom. 6:12
  • He wants you to make exceptions and excuses in your walk with God.
  • He does not want you to claim the blood of Yahoshua over your life because he cannot penetrate through that covering.
  • He wants you to be quick to anger, impatient, rebellious and self absorbed. Pro. 14:29
  • He wants you to live for the moment and not for the lifetime.
  • He wants you to gossip and speak idle words. Matt. 12:36-37
  • He wants you to dress immodestly and cause others to fall.
  • He wants you to be filled with pride, for it brings nothing but strife.

Do you find yourself pleasing the Prince of Darkness in any way? We shouldn’t slap our redeemer in the face by turning our back on Him and assisting the devil! The one and perfect Messiah, who loves you with a passion, stands before each of us, pleading in agony for you to take His yoke and walk with Him (Matt. 11:28). We must confess our sins, be filled with the Holy Spirit and daily walk as children of the light. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places.” Eph. 6:12

Each time we allow our flesh to control us we give Satan a legal right to oppress us. Scripture tells us that the serpent was more cunning than any other creature, so no doubt he has his scaly fingers around you in a way you don’t even realize. Pray for discernment and tell the devil who you really belong to. Stomp on him! We have that choice to make every day, every moment of our lives. Whom will we serve? “He has shown you, oh man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

Great and amazing things are promised to those who accept this God given objective. 1 Corinthians 2:6 says “However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age who are come to nothing. But we speak of the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory … but it is written, eye has not seen nor ear heard nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” Inspiring, isn’t it?

I’d like to quote one more scripture verse before I close and that is from the epistle of John. “I write to you little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake. I write to you fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I write to you young men, because you have overcome the wicked one. I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father. I write to you fathers because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you young men, because you are strong and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.” John 1:12-14

We can overcome!
