But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord how he may please the Lord. ~ 1 Corinthians 7:32

This time of waiting that all girls wanting to be married have to go through is a Blessing!

You may say a blessing, HA! But really according to 1Corinthians 7:32 it says we are to be “concerned about the things of the Lord how he (we) may please the Lord!” This time is a blessing because we can get to know Jesus better, our First Love. We can draw close to him through reading his love letter (The Bible) to us, and talking to him through the day, before we have families of our own. I am not saying that you can’t do this when you have your own family, just the opposite, but that we should be doing this before we have the responsibility of taking care of a household while we are free of concern. Jesus is the only sure way we can survive in this world of darkness. He loves us and is just waiting for us to take our eyes off of our fleshly desires and to look to him as our source of contentment. That he may shower us with the blessings of his Spirit. So that when our husbands finally do come along that through our marriage we may display unity in Christ and that we may be our husband’s helpmeet and may be able to bless him and the Lord to the best of our ability.

Do Your Goals for Life Please the Lord?

First of all I would like to ask a question…what are your goals in life? I don’t know about you but my goals in life are:

To be like Jesus. Ephesians 5:1 says, “Be Imitators of God therefore as dearly loved children.” I know I can never be perfect like Jesus but just as a child would imitate his earthly father or mother I am trying to imitate my Heavenly Father.

To Glorify Jesus in all that I do. 1 Corinthians 6:20 “For you have been bought with a price (Jesus dying on the cross for OUR sins) therefore GLORIFY God in your body.” This verse explains that we are to do it all for the praise of Jesus.

To be a servant. If our Heavenly Father washed his disciples dirty FILTHY feet, then we too can do the not so pleasant jobs that need to be done, and do it with a joyful attitude and a smile on our face. Psalm 100:2 “Serve the Lord with gladness come before Him with joyful singing”.

Now these are just some examples of how we may please the Lord, but in all of these our attitude will display our hearts, we could either go about grumbling under our breath OR we can be a light that is joyful no matter what we do. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). Yet if we are trying to please the Lord we know that we are to be joyful. So even if we have to wait a long time for our husbands we know that we have the blessing of getting to know our Heavenly Father better. So I encourage you sisters don’t think of this as a waste of time but as a Blessing! “….Arise bless the Lord your God forever and ever!”~ Nehemiah 9:5
