Those of you who are subscribed to the magazine have most likely received Volume9 Number4 by now and read my announcement in the editorial. For those of you who are not subscribed, let me bring you up to speed …
We will only be publishing one more issue of Shining Stars Magazine. I’ll begin by saying, “I’m sorry”, because I know this will be disappointing to many of you. I’ll continue with an explanation in hopes that you will understand.
The theme of this most recent issue was The Inner Woman, and we looked at how to strengthen our inner being instead of just focusing on the outward accomplishments. If you would like to read it, you can order a copy by clicking here. There are some wonderful articles in it and many sisters in the faith shared great advice. The recurring theme is that in order for us to truly blossom on the inside, we must have opportunities for being refreshed and restored.
When I began Shining Stars, I had practically no other commitments besides finishing school and helping out around the house. It was easy and enjoyable to invest my time into this work! But things have changed in nine (almost ten) years. I began helping my family by operating a home business that took a huge amount of time. As the magazine grew, my responsibilities grew and I would often feel obligated to accomplish them while being overwhelmed with other tasks. So often I felt like I was rushing through life, trying to meet deadlines and commitments, with no time to really enjoy the journey.
More recently, we have had some changes in our family and also in my own life. Ecclesiastes 3 talks about there being times and seasons for everything and recent circumstances have convinced me that the time and season for the magazine is coming to an end. There have been many times when things were very busy for our family and my mother would suggest that I consider stopping the magazine. I never felt that it was the right timing. Now I do.
For the time being, I intend to keep this website/blog running. We will try to publish posts once or twice a week. Guest posts are welcomed so if you have something to share, please contact us about doing so!
I also started a Shining Stars group on Facebook so that ladies around the world can continue to connect and encourage each other in Biblical womanhood. If you are not part of the group yet, feel free to join us.
Volume10 Number1 – Where Do We Go From Here?
It’s bittersweet for me to think about stopping the magazine. It’s been such a huge part of my life for so long and I will miss being a part of it for sure. On the other hand, I look forward to the freedom from this responsibility – a break from the labor, both physical and mental. I will be forever thankful that YHWH led me to start this ministry! It is such an honor and privilege to work alongside Him in reaching out to others and I hope to continue doing that for that the rest of my life.
We have covered many topics in the past thirty-four issues – all of which are in some way related to Godly womanhood. In the last issue, I would love to feature an article on each of the various aspects of femininity and Biblical womanhood! Obviously we won’t be able to cover everything in one issue but I think it would be great to wrap up this season with a variety in submissions.
Everyone is invited to share in this upcoming issue! We can add extra pages if we have to! What is on your heart? This is your opportunity!
Testimonies … Homemaking … Modesty … Contentment … Femininity … Entrepreneurism … Family Relationships … Headcoverings … Courtship/Betrothal … Submission … Homesteading … Childbirth … Fruits of the Spirit … Healthy living … Daughters at Home … Recipes … Scripture Study …
These are just a few things that we have discussed in previous Shining Stars issues and I think it would be a great idea to recap. Perhaps you have some other ideas or something on your heart to share? The regular columns will also need submissions – you can visit the current issue page for more details. The deadline for submissions is February 28th.
As always, I love to hear from each and every one of you! You have been a great encouragement and blessing to me and I hope that our friendships can continue even once the magazine publication is over. May you be greatly blessed as you begin this new year!
