Calling all ladies!! All ladies with brothers … older as well as younger!
Now that I have your attention, lemme explain to you my urgency for the need to get the word out.
“Lucy! You have some ‘splainin to do!”
No, no. You’re not in trouble … at least not yet anyways! Why am I saying this? Okay, I will tell you.
Have you ever noticed anything “different” about the men of our world today? I mean take a look at the men fifty years ago and look at the men today. Do you notice anything odd and at times even strange?
I’m talking about “masculinity” and our men today. The world as we know it seems to focus on how “strong” the average women is and how she climbs that career ladder while our men are viewed as sissies. In the schools, stores, movies, TV and even in our own homes, women and girls are being taught that it’s, “okay to put the man down! Fight for women’s rights! We need YOU to wear the pants in the family!”
It is telling the female population that men are obsolete.
Nothing … in our eyes anymore.
Marriage is no longer cherished like it once was. Fifty years ago, ladies were taught, in the government schools, ways on how to better your husband. They learned better ways to help him flourish, how to be a help meet and serve him!
Girls!! These were in TEXTBOOKS!!!
Now they are no longer taught. Women are learning that men are just something that we can discard at a moments notice. Like they are trash. We as females wonder why all men wanna do is sit around and be lazy.
Why? And why should we be concerned? And what in the world does this have to do with family relationships? Ummm, a lot, believe it or not.
Let’s go now to a family. Quite a large one according to the world’s standards. Or hey! Let’s even let it be a family with only two kids – a girl and her younger brother. The girl is so self-absorbed in her own life. She is too busy to notice or even care about her younger brother. He tries his very hardest to be a big man. To prove to his older sister that he loves her and wants to treat her like a lady. But all she can do is brush him off like a piece of dandruff, not caring about the things that her future-man-brother is trying to do. When she puts him down, she is sending that child a message.
Do you realize that as a sister, any and every time you just brush off your younger brother (and yes, even older brothers) and do not treat them like men, you are damaging their masculinity??
How did the men of this world come to such apathy for their gender? How?
Well, we women did it to them. Yes, it’s true. When you put your brothers down you are sending them the message of the world. You are telling them that they do not need to care about women as God expects. That they do not need to be godly men.
They will grow up with the mindset that women are “strong”, if not stronger, and that the need to treat a woman like a lady does not exist anymore.
Our relationships with our brothers determines what type of men they will become. Let your little brothers be little brothers. Don’t yell at them if they are holding the door for you and they are in the way. Don’t become upset when they forget to put the bag back in the trashcan.
Yes sometimes our little brothers can get on our nerves and they do tend to become very annoying at times, but that doesn’t mean we need to get angry or just brush them off. If our brother is always around nagging, angry, I’m-better-than-you older sisters, what kind of man will he become?
Sisters!!! I’m telling you all this because what we do can greatly influence our brothers, who in turn can influence the world. Let’s make men of our brothers. Have a relationship with them. Talk to them. Encourage them. Listen to them. Pray for them. Cherish them. (Of course, you know that you need to love them as well, right?)
If our sweet little brothers know and learn what its means to be a godly MAN now, then the world will once again have men who care!
