Shining Stars: Tell us a little about yourself (name, age, where you live, family, interests, etc) …
Shannon: My name is Shannon Fitzgerald, and I am an 18 year old young lady, embracing life along the east coast of our sweet southern state of Florida. I’ve been blessed with two Godly parents and an amazing little brother … and they all fill my life with joy and are tools in the Father’s hand to help mold me into His image. I’m an aspiring photographer and love capturing life with my lens. I delight in spending time out in God’s creation, though I also can be found baking in a cozy kitchen or sewing something up in my room 🙂
Shining Stars: What is your testimony (how did you become born-again)?
Shannon: I was blessed to be able to grow up in a Christian home, and constantly had the Word of God surrounding me life. When I was about 13 years old, I felt the Lord calling me to surrender my life to Him, to be utterly and completely set apart for Him. I did not want to live life for my own pleasure and glory, and His calling on my life opened my eyes to fully understand that gift of salvation which Christ has given to us. By His grace and mercy alone I can rejoice in this gift of life through Christ’s blood. Now, though I often stumble and fail, I am continually striving to serve the Lord and to embrace this narrow path that I am on. I am daily in awe of the marvelous gift of Salvation that the Lord Jesus has given to me and am striving to share His love with others.
Shining Stars: What led you to stay at home?
Shannon: Well, for almost all of my school years, I had the joy and blessing to be homeschooled. I cherish the memory of each day sitting at my desk studying, hearing the sound of my mom teaching my brother, and praising the Lord for His goodness in my life. I have recently graduated this year, and though it feels like the world’s only option is to move out and go to college, I have decided to stay at home. I didn’t want to leave my family and home, and felt led to keep my ministry and heart here, as a “corner pillar” for my family (Psalm 144:12). I do still aspire to be learning and growing, and have enjoyed taking online college classes through a Bible college nearby. There is so much to learn right here and now, in my home with my family, and I am striving to grow in many skills and knowledge.
Shining Stars: What are some ways that you help and serve your family?
Shannon: I love to bless and serve my family through providing meals (cooking is a favorite of mine :)), helping my mother in the house work, and making the home a cheerful haven. There are so many opportunities in my home life to grow in service to others!
Shining Stars: Are there any resources that have encouraged you in your daily life?
Shannon: I have been blessed ever so much by so many resources, such as through books and sermons, and thus its hard to pin point any particular one! A wonderful resource that impacted my season of girlhood was a mother/daughter Bible study called “Bright Lights” which was created by Sarah Mally, another stay at home daughter. Her love for the Lord and desire to shine brightly for Him in her youth inspired me to do the same, and has been a source of encouragement to my soul.
Shining Stars: Do you have a ministry? If so, please share about it.
Shannon: I do not have a specific ministry, but I do strive to make “others” my ministry. From mentoring young ladies to sewing dresses for orphans with my church family, I aspire to use my life as a light for Christ. My home is my greatest ministry, but ultimately my ministry is found in serving wherever the Lord puts me!
Shining Stars: Do you have a home business? If so, please share about it.
Shannon: I have a couple of home businesses that I joyfully embrace, such as selling homemade soaps and bread, as well as pursuing my love for photographing others. I am constantly striving to learn and grow in these areas!
Shining Stars: What encouragement/advice/exhortation do you have to share?
Shannon: One of the lessons that the Lord has been teaching me lately is to wait on HIS timing. I know that I often have to be reminded to “be still” and when I finally surrender myself to the Lord, trusting that He holds it all in His hands, He shows me innumerable blessings and opens doors that I could never have foreseen. So, dear sisters, whatever you feel like you are “waiting” for, whether for the Lord to bring that special someone into your life, to open new avenues of ministry, or to answer a prayer or earnest desire, trust in His timing, which is *always* perfect. He loves you more than you can comprehend, and in His sovereignty He orchestrates everything perfectly for His glory and our good. Delight in His timing dear hearts …
