Shining Stars: Tell us about yourself (name, age, where you live, family, interest, etc.)
Renanah: Shalom my name is Renanah and I live in Miami, Florida. I’m currently 19 years old and have just become a stay at home daughter this year of 2013. I live with my mom who is like my best friend and my two younger sisters who are 13 and 11. My dad is incarcerated but we still fellowship with each other through writing and visiting him when were able to. Some of the things that I enjoy doing are drawing and painting inspirational/encouraging things. I love to sing and write songs for the glory of Yahweh, and I enjoy cooking, dancing, playing the piano and gardening.
Shining Stars: What is your testimony (How did you become born again?)
Renanah: Through my elementary and middle school years I was deep into the world. We started attending a Christian church when I was 12 but I really didn’t take anything they believed seriously. At this age is also where I wrote my first song about a boy I had a crush on and then my mom saw how good of a writer I was, and encouraged me to write Christian songs. So I agreed, since a week later we met a man who was willing to be my producer for free if I would only sing Christian songs. So I began singing and writing for this God and Jesus I barely knew about. I would close my door and be finished in no less than an hour with the song. When I would sing them to my mom she couldn’t believe someone so young as I was could be talking about the things I did. When I would be in my room it was like Yahweh Himself was putting in my spirit all that he wanted me to sing. Even my producer was amazed but in my eyes it wasn’t a big deal.
Even though I was doing worldly things and playing church girl on Sunday but living as a sinner Monday through Friday, Yahweh still taught what He wanted me to know despite my sinful ways. He kept me from many things and situations thinking back on those times and at the time I really couldn’t understand why everything would work out for everyone else and not me but eventually I began to understand why when my dad began writing me.
My dad was taken from me when I was 4 years old so at age 12 I really couldn’t tell who my dad was if even if he walked by. At age 14 is when I first went to go see him with my mom for the first time. I had no anger or resentment towards him for some reason, because in my heart I always knew everything happens for a reason so I was very mature for my age. After I went to go see him he began writing me about how special I am and that I can’t act like other girls do. Then all of a sudden he began writing the name Yahweh and Yeshua in letters to me and of course I asked him about it and he explained to me everything.
He then mentioned to me that I should consider changing the twenty songs I just finished by using Yahweh and Yeshua instead of God and Jesus and of course in my mind, I’m like “no”, but after proving what he was teaching me to be true, something about those names just changed my heart dramatically. Something told me that this is the right way to go and that if I choose to go down this road I’m not going to be able to play church girl like I did before so I stepped out in faith and began redoing all my songs and believe me when I say it was such a great anointing on them than it ever was, and I am a completely different person just because I began to embrace my Hebrew roots.
Yeshua has been the best of friends to me throughout my life. Through all my wandering, pain and sinfulness, He gave me a peace of mind and changed my heart completely. He brought me out of darkness and into His marvelous light. His words continue to bless me day by day and His life is the example I follow because I believe with all my heart that He is the way, the truth and the life. Yeshua is my salvation, and I wouldn’t be who I am today if I hadn’t accepted Him as my Messiah, Savior and King.
Shining Stars: What led you to stay at home?
Renanah: What really led me to stay at home was seeing how much my mom needed my help around the house. Being a single parent living in a house is not easy so I really went before Yahweh about it and He then showed me the areas I need to help her in and that’s what I do when I’m home. I could have chosen to go to college but in my eyes that would have been selfish of me to leave my mom when she needed me the most. I’m reminded of the story of Ruth. Ruth could have chosen to go with Orpah back to her town but no, she saw that Naomi needed her so he stuck with her and was able to be even more blessed by her faithfulnesss. Yahweh has also shown me many flaws and dangers of attending college so I was willing to go against the grain and do what He wanted me to do which was to not be a part of this world’s system by getting a job or going to college. I rather help my family and myself by becoming a better keeper at home.
Shining Stars: What are some ways that you help and serve your family?
Renanah: When my mom goes to work and my sisters go to school, I devote my time to cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, yard work, running errands for my mom, or organizing papers. My mom also has a lot of unfinished projects she has started but never finished so I try to finish them when I can.
Shining Stars: Are there any resources that have encouraged you in your daily walk?
Renanah: Besides the Bible I also read books that have all the women of the Bible stories so I can learn from their mistakes and see what does a virtuous women do and what she doesn’t do.
Shining Stars: Do you have a ministry if so please share about it?
Renanah: My ministry is called Psalms Of Yahweh and it’s basically a ministry where I perform the songs Yahweh has given me at different events. I have songs on modesty, submission, repentance and even a marriage album that’s coming out soon so my desire is just to provide people with music that encourages and teaches them throughout their walk to trust Yahweh and love Him with all their heart.
Shining Stars: Do you have a home business?
Renanah: Yes I actually have three that I’ve been working on for weeks now that are a work in progress. The first one is an online thrift store that sells modest clothing. Some of them I buy, while others I make but my desire is just to supply women with affordable modest clothes to wear. Secondly I’m working on becoming a Hebrew wedding planner/photographer. I do creative decorations and activities for both betrothal and wedding and am willing to sing two of my songs from my wedding album at either the betrothal or wedding. My third one is selling inspirational painting and drawings.
Shining Stars: What encouragement/advice/exhortation do you have to share?
Renanah: I just want to encourage all ladies to desire Yahweh’s will for their lives. What He calls you to do may be different from what everyone else is doing but that is a part of being set-apart and a holy people unto Him. You must keep your heart and mind open to receiving truth and be willing to change if He is trying to take you to a greater place in Him. Don’t be afraid or ashamed to live for Him. He is the way and don’t let anybody else tell you otherwise.
