Shining Stars: Tell us a little about yourself (name, age, where you live, family, interests, etc) …
Kristyn: My name is Kristyn Fogleman. I am twenty-one years old and the second oldest of six children. We live on a farm in Oklahoma with a wide variety of animals. I enjoy being outside with the animals, playing games with my siblings, working on projects with my daddy and reading books with my mother.
Shining Stars: What is your testimony (how did you become born-again)?
Kristyn: I have been raised in a good, Christian home by Godly parents. I don’t remember when I asked the Lord into my heart, I think I was around five or six years old. I try to give myself to the Lord every day. I enjoy studying my Bible and learning more about Him. I’m always learning new ways to apply His word to my life.
Shining Stars: What led you to stay at home?
Kristyn: When I was around thirteen years old we talked about the options of staying at home or going to college. My sister and I decided together to stay under our father’s protection. He has never felt college to be important or necessary and I have never felt led to go to college or leave home.
Shining Stars: What are some ways that you help and serve your family?
Kristyn: I enjoy helping my mother in the kitchen. I like cooking more than baking. I help my dad with his electrical business. I also help my little brothers and sisters with their chores and homeschooling. We’ve been taught to serve each other and that we are all part of the house, so we all chip in and help. Mostly I like to be outside working with the animals.
Shining Stars: Are there any resources that have encouraged you in your daily life?
Kristyn: The Bible, music, family and the animals. I enjoy watching DVDs with my family from Michael Rood, Ken Ham, Kent Hovind, Doug Bachelour and David Barton. I’ve also enjoyed some of the resources we have from IBLP and Character First, especially the Commands of Christ. Last year a friend gave me a Jane Austen Devotional for Hanukkah and I have really enjoyed leaning Biblical Character through it.
Shining Stars: Do you have a ministry? If so, please share about it.
Kristyn: I consider helping my family to be a ministry. I also consider my animals to be a ministry.
Shining Stars: Do you have a home business? If so, please share about it.
Kristyn: I do a variety of things. I am the primary caretaker of the farm, I help daddy with his business and I raise and show Golden Retrievers. I have a website for the dogs and sell puppies. I’ve really enjoyed researching bloodlines, histories and natural health alternatives for the animals, especially my dogs.
Shining Stars: What encouragement/advice/exhortation do you have to share?
Kristyn: Don’t be worried about what other people are doing or what other people may think of you. Do what you know God wants. Don’t worry about tomorrow because it is all in the Lord’s hands.
