About twenty years ago when I was first introduced to the computer, I came across a “note from God”. I liked it so much that I bought computer paper that looked like a scroll, found an appropriate font and printed out several copies to give to people. It read:
Good morning, this is God. I will be handling all your problems today. I do not need your help. Have a nice day.
Tonight as I was praying over what I feel is an insurmountable family problem, Abba reminded me of that note. He then brought to my remembrance two instances in Scripture when man tried to ‘help’ Him.
The first was when He made the covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15:8-17. Notice in verse 11 how Abraham feels like he must chase away the birds of prey that came down on the carcasses of the sacrificed animals that Elohim had told Abraham to bring to Him.
In verse 12, Abraham is put into a deep sleep until the “smoking furnace and flaming torch passed between those pieces of meat” – verse 17. Yahovah did not need man’s help to keep away those birds. This covenant was made and carried out by Elohim alone.
The next incident was when David attempted to bring the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem. In 1 Chronicles 13:9, we see how when the oxen, which were pulling the cart carrying the Ark, stumbled that Uzza put out his hand to hold the Ark, and “the anger of Yahovah was kindled against Uzza … because he put forth his hand to the Ark; and there he died before Elohim.”
Yahovah did not need man’s help to steady the Ark. He is THE ALMIGHTY! What can puny man do that is anywhere near what He can do? And so, in my family matter, where it looks like the birds of prey are swooping down, and it all looks so unsteady that I want to reach out my hand and do something, Father has reminded me that all I need to do is pray and He will do the rest. He does not need my help!
