He Does Not Need Our Help

He Does Not Need Our Help

About twenty years ago when I was first introduced to the computer, I came across a “note from God”.  I liked it so much that I bought computer paper that looked like a scroll, found an appropriate font and printed out several copies to give to people.  It read:

Good morning, this is God.  I will be handling all your problems today.  I do not need your help.  Have a nice day.

Tonight as I was praying over what I feel is an insurmountable family problem, Abba reminded me of that note.  He then brought to my remembrance two instances in Scripture when man tried to ‘help’ Him. [Read more…]

Being Thankful For Women’s Work

Being Thankful For Women's Work

Today as I was cleaning up the kitchen, I did something I cannot remember ever doing: I thanked my heavenly Father for the work He has given my hands to do.

My husband calls it “women’s work”.  I used to kind of resent the phrase, but today as I pondered on what it meant from the Father’s point of view, I actually came to appreciate the fact that there is women’s work and men’s work.  To be honest, I prefer women’s work.

A man has to go out five days a week, eight-ten hours a day to support his family and their needs.  It doesn’t matter what the weather is like either.  It reminds me of the old postman’s creed which reads: “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” [Read more…]

Vessels Of Clay – Finding Contentment With The Potter’s Work

Vessels Of Clay - Finding Contentment With The Potter's Work

How many of us have ever said,

“I wish I had curly hair.”

“I wish I had straight hair.”

“I wish I was thinner.”

“I wish I was pretty.”

“I wish, I wish, I wish!”

Why does it take us so long to finally get to the place where we’re content with ourselves just as the Father made us?  In our discontent, we waste precious time and money in an attempt to attain what we think we want.  How this must sadden our Creator.

In effect, we’re telling Him we don’t like the way He made us, and we go about trying to “fix” ourselves to please us.  Yahovah has a plan and a purpose for each of us and when we focus on our wishes and wants, we throw away some of the things Father had for us to do. [Read more…]

Stepping Outside Of Our Comfort Zone

January 20, 2017

Encouragement for Ladies Bible

Everyone has a “comfort zone”.  For some it’s being at home where they feel safe and secure.  For others it may be working at a job they not only enjoy, but are good at.  Stepping out of that comfort zone can be a bit scary, such as maybe having to get a job after years of being a stay-at-home Mom, or feeling the Father is calling you to start visiting shut-in’s or those in a nursing-home or in prison.  It can be difficult leaving your comfort zone to do something you have never done before.  But in many instances, it can be a joy. Embracing Singleness As A Life Focused On Christ

Embracing Singleness As A Life Focused On Christ

What is singleness, really?  Is it being alone?  Is it not being married?  Is it even what it says it is?

I think that being single is not a “status”.  Sure, people put “single” as their Facebook status and are bent on letting the world know, “HEY!!!! I am SINGLE!!!!!”  Maybe we should go back and try to figure out what singleness actually is.

Is it being alone?  If singleness is “being alone” then I don’t think that anyone is single.  If we are a believer, then Christ will never leave us nor forsake us.  If we have a family, we are not alone.  If we live in the middle of NYC, have never heard of Christ and work at The New York Times, we are not single.  We have people around us all the time.  If single meant being alone, then the only single people I know are hermits!

Is it not being married?  Maybe this is a good definition for some people, but really?  Not being married?  Is that all singleness is about?  Once again, this puts us with a “status”.  Our status is not being married. [Read more…]
