Many years ago, a friend gave my sisters and me a small book titled “Beautiful Girlhood”, written by Mabel Hale. I do not remember exactly when it was, but it was right about the time that I was entering my early teens … more or less the perfect time to read this particular book!
Beautiful Girlhood was written in the early 1900’s and offers godly wisdom to girls making the transition to womanhood. An excerpt from the editor’s note reads:
“What could a book from that era possibly say to girls of the twenty-first century? Plenty. Even though fashions, technology, methods of communication – society in general – have changed dramatically since Mabel Hale’s day, human nature hasn’t. And the underlying message of Beautiful Girlhood, that every girl must consciously decide to develop godly character, is truly ageless.”
That last sentence sums up the purpose of this book. Every girl who desires to be a woman of virtue must make a conscious decision to learn and practice the traits that characterize a Godly, virtuous woman. Although Beautiful Girlhood was written in an era much different from our own, I believe every young lady can learn from the truths that are presented in this book. Not only does the author address the different aspects of acquiring a godly and virtuous character, she also discusses the many practicalities of beautiful girlhood, from choosing friends and discerning between good and bad books, to dressing in an appropriate and modest manner and behaving correctly around young men.
I highly recommend this book for young ladies of all ages, but especially those who are leaving girlhood behind and beginning to enter this glorious new stage of womanhood! We will be giving away a copy of Beautiful Girlhood to one winner … see rules below for a chance to win!

I would love to read this book. Even though I am a little older than early teens.
Thank you so much!
I don’t think I ever read this one … and yet, I am certainly “a little older than early teens” … not to mention being a male!!!
Amazing you’ve gotten on so well without it! I can let you borrow my copy, if you’d like
I have never read this book so I would love to enter the giveaway.
Thank you ever so very much!
I would love to have this book! I may be seventeen already(how is this possible?), but everyone thinks I’m twelve, does that count?
After all, just like the note you included said, such things are ageless.
It will be a blessing to whoever it goes to, I’m sure!
Kiera
Ha ha! Don’t worry … I’m 22 and people think I’m much younger. When I was 20, someone thought I was 12
Oh, I’m not complaining, I like it that way. I feel sorry for the girls I know who look 25 when they’re 16, although I suppose there are good things about that too… But I’ll keep the way Yahweh made me, thank you.
^_^
Kiera
Same here
People think I am younger than I am as well.
They think my sister who is 3 1/2 years younger than me is older. However, I’m told that I will like it when I get old.
People tend to think I’m younger than I really am too. When I was 11 someone thought I was 8. And when I was 18, someone couldn’t believe it when I told them how old I was. They thought I was 16. I know it’s a compliment though. I know I’ll be really glad for it when I’m older.
And I have to agree with you Kiera. I’m perfectly happy with the way He made me too.
It’s really funny when your family all goes somewhere and when you get your entry passes the person at the desk guesses what you need correctly… But gives you the child pass and your little brother the adult pass… :p

Ha ha!! That is funny!
I have never read this book. With daughters just starting to enter their young adult years (I don’t like the term “teenager”), this would be a great resource for them.

I’ve always heard of this book as being a really good one. Never got around to actually reading it though!
I have read this book over and over again! It is worth reading!
I’d love to be entered to win. Many thanks for the giveaway, Hannah

I haven’t read this book, but it looks like an invaluable resource for young ladies. I wish someone had recommended it to me when I was a young lady. I would love to read this and then put it in my daughter’s hope chest for her to read when she is older.
